The sunlight filtering through the trees is beautiful.
Hikari no Mori
The light filtering through the trees illuminates the green leaves, casting gentle patterns along the forest path. With each step, the dappled sunlight shifts, creating a moment that feels as if the forest itself is breathing.
The Maeda Ippoen Foundation, which has been protecting the forest of Lake Akan for over 100 years, offers a special premium experience known as The Forest of Light.
Access to this forest is exclusively granted through tours accompanied by guides certified by the foundation, known as Ippoen Forest Guides. Despite its proximity to the Akan Lake Onsen, this pristine forest and caldera landscape remains largely untouched by human hands, allowing visitors to experience the coexistence of forest, wildlife, and humanity.
As you progress through the forest, the wisdom and stories of the Ainu people, who have cherished their natural surroundings, are quietly conveyed through the guide's words. This experience unfolds like the dappled sunlight filtering through the trees, gently illuminating your heart.
The forest is named after Hikoko Maeda, the second head of the Maeda family. Moments spent in this light-filled forest, touching upon the history of harmony between nature and humanity, will become cherished memories of a premium journey at Lake Akan that can only be experienced here.
